This One Is On Us - Mission Statement
This One Is On Us is a not-for-profit international group of creatives, organisers, and music enthusiasts. We believe that music is conversation, not dictation.
We aim to restore live music as a shared, passionate entity, and work with those who embrace new media and the realities of the Internet to build on their relationship with fans through collaboration and to create unique documents of their live events. Providing organizational, technical and financial support, we encourage fan communities to plan and execute first-rate film and audio recordings, and turn the resulting content into professional quality releases.
Direct fan involvement allows us to capture the essence of a live experience, not only providing a souvenir for those that attended, but also allowing the world to live the show virtually first- hand. This One Is On Us profoundly enhances the relationship between artist and fan; a revolution emerges where the two meet.
This One Is On Us:
- understands that the audience dictates the longstanding success of an artist. We work with - and listen to - the fan community to determine their needs.
- encourages a direct dialogue between artist and audience.
- is a learning tool for artists and fan groups who want to create projects that maintain the spirit of TOIOU
- provides production and distribution advice and services - we have already made a lot of mistakes: learn from them!
- acts primarily on behalf of artists and fans
- works with entities who understand that technology changes the music industry, and who wish to work with (rather than take legal action against) their customers.
This is a work in progress. If you have any comments or additions, let us know.
About
The group was formed in December 2008 with the desire to create professional, high definition audio and video releases of Nine Inch Nails' groundbreaking Lights in the Sky tour, which took place across North America during 2008. To date, we have received international media praise for Another Version of the Truth (NME, Wall Street Journal, 3News New Zealand), produced and distributed thousands of DVD sets, held screenings in over 30 countries, and raised money for causes such as Hope for Hearts and the Red Cross. Other works include the critically acclaimed The Downward Spiral: Live, and Dresden Dolls: Live in New York.
